Kitchen extractors. The previous owners installed a Howdens one before we moved in. It was set up as self extracting but we have since vented it outside. The fan is an impeller style.
It basically doesn't extract. I've done lots of investigstion and troubleshooting and seems to point to the intake fans blowing as much air out as in. Enough to disrupt the airflow into the hood so nothing gets sucked out.
Nothing in the manual suggests a different set up of the fan for direct venting (beyond removing charcoal filters). Am I missing a trade secret or is it just a shit hood?
The length of the duct run might be a variable to look at?
But from my experience most, if not all, of the low-to-mid range domestic extractors seem to be decorative items.
