Really sorry to hear that. You're not the first that I've read something similar from, and it's a great shame that it's something that's not possible to do without this fear. I think what happened to Frank Simons shook a lot of people up.
Great effort for what you did up to now and well done for making a brave and presumably difficult decision!

Then what?
"You go first..."
"No, go on..." -

Always a bigger picture boss, see you at HalloX for tales from the road

Sounds like a great decision. Chapeau for your ride so far.

Has Ian To missed a turning? How come he isn't heading for cp3?
-
• #1658
I think you're making the right decision given the circumstances. So much respect for what you've already achieved. Chapeau

Chapeau for your efforts. Priorities are priorities
-
• #1660
Probably stopped at the petrol station in Svit (there's one just past the junction he needed) to stock up and will then take the route up to CP3 via Batizovce/Gerlachov.

I go away for half an hour and come back to this
-
• #1662
But why does he need petrol?
-
• #1663
Hopefully
Something weird with his tracker on frrt as well, has him oget 100km behind Goy.

That's a big call on Bjorn, who's been pretty up front previously about how he's sticking to his plan as he physically can't race further. Pressure will definitely be on now Skinny's up there with him!
@gillies I know how much this race means to you and I'm glad you've made the right decision for you. Stay safe and stay positive man! It's been great following and cheering for you!
-
• #1665
Better luck next time, gillies, remember that skinny had to scratch the first time out, too. :)
-
• #1666
Well ridden. Total respect tp you. Sadly can't fault your decision either. Wish it wasn't so.
-
• #1667
Skinny would appear to be opening up a lead.
-
• #1668
Although its still a long way to go, it looks like Skinny has the beating of Bjorn now, and Ian To's routing is stopping him making a serious challenge.
But Jonas Goy in 3rd is not out of it yet. For the last few days he has been riding marginally faster than Skinny, and if he had not taken 12 hours out at CP1 considering whether to abandon, he could well be in the lead.
The excitement is not over yet! -

9k is the type of lead that can be lost while having a particularly large dump.
Let's see what it looks like in the morning.
-
• #1670
Yeah, but think of the weight savings.
-
• #1671
The large dump? You're a sick man!
-
• #1672
Chapeau for having the maturity and presence of mind to make that call. And Chapeau to your other half for letting you do this with one on the way - would never have got that past my missus :)
-
• #1673
Yeah but SKINNNNYYYYYYYYYY

It's not that he has a 9km lead but that he has reeled in one of almost 100km by riding slightly faster than Bjorn every day.
Unless Skinny makes a mistake - maybe the pressure of leading might get to him. But I don't think it will.Goy, however, may be a tougher nut for him to crack!

As @PepOne's picture shows, skinny could have took the jump on Bjorn while they were at the petrol station. The fact that he was clearly having a good time and taking pictures shows some real confidence and good attitude to the race, exactly the same has come through in both his videos for TABR and his soundcloud clips in the last few days. With his TCR history thrown in, it really makes you hope he does this.
