  • Got pissed off trying to source stuff second hand and threw a bunch of money on an adapter for the front brake on the way, gold pedals, boring silver pump (booo), helmet, lights and some inner tubes.

Finding it difficult to track down a suitable 25.4mm stem so I'm considering throwing more money at some jones loops and an OS stem. I'd like to go for flat bars and bar ends inboard but that works out being just as pricey.

  • I have some 25.4 jones loops if you're looking, plus the OS shim

  • Thanks for the offer, I've already got 2 sets of loops in my parents loft (along with pretty much all the other gear I need) but I've (wrongly?) assumed it's either hassle, or prohibitively expensive to ship stuff over. Maybe I'll revisit that option...

  • They are gold and definitely don't match the frame or the fork :D

  • A little hiccup...

  • Did this last year. Really enjoyed it. Pretty easy and the weather's very similar to what we get in the UK. I pretty much winged the stops en route. Seemed to work out well though maybe plan the boat rides if poss to make sure you don't miss the last one of the day. I took the unusual combination of a tarp tent and a non waterproof ultra light bivvi bag for flexibility. Never used my tarp tent once which was ~700g of wasted weight and the lightweight bivvi was used in the clouds so I woke up (never really slept) soaked one night. Slept inside a McDonalds too because of the 5 or 4 hour (can't remember) min stopping time but that was my bad planning. Still benefitted from a proper breakfast as soon as I woke up :) It's great you'll love it.
