  • I used to frequent that forum back in the Massa/Alonso/Hamilton days.

You can imagine the fun I had as a Ferrari/Alonso supporter!

  • I'd love to see Bottas take a championship, not so much that I want to see another non-Ferrari driver lose it though...

  • This season, that venom seems to have been transferred to Vettel/Ferrari.

Given that vettel drove his car into Hamilton in a fit of road rage a bit of venom against him is well deserved.

The situation at mec is somewhat ridiculous on one hand you have a 3 times world champ on a contract that's more than likely double his co drivers but he isn't the number 1 driver. This situation has cost them points over the last few years. but due to a lack of any other rivals it hasn't cost they the driver or constructs titles. It might be different this year.

  • Yep, it's easy to be the good guys when you are thrashing everyone.

  • he isn't the number 1 driver

are you sure about that - i've felt at times that Bottas has been behind Lewis and catching him up only to hold station....

  • I think the Mercedes radio this weekend made it very clear the drivers have equal status. If they wanted their one driver to win the championship they wouldn't have asked Lewis to give up the place to Bottas if he couldn't get passed Kimi.

In the past teams have allowed their drivers to race until the last pit stop and then they are expected to hold station and bring it home, that might be the current agreement at Mercedes.

  • Personally I don't see how it's ridiculous.

The team get their money based on their WCC position, it doesn't matter what way the drivers finish. So there's no reason to favour one driver. Mercedes let Hamilton through to try to get some extra points for the WCC.

I don't see how their management strategy is any different from Red Bull with Vettel/Webber, McLaren with Hamilton/Button, or Ferrari with Massa/Raikkonen.

Alonso/Massa at Ferrari is a different case as Ferrari had no hope for the WCC and the potential publicity gain for having a WDC was all they had to play for.

How would not favouring one driver cost the team WCC points?

  • on another motorsport point,

porsche pulling out of WEC LMP1 program to "concentrate" on Formula E program....

is F.E. really going to get big enough to challenge the "status quo" of motorsport?
I hear on webby that WRC might be totally electric by 2020 too as that is what manufacturers want....

  • Pretty awesome laps by Hamilton/Vettel there!

  • Perez deserving of a race ban IMO.

  • Bothas had a bad day at the office.

  • That Merc doesn't like dirty air, so once he was behind cars it's tricky to get past.

  • Congrats to Lewis. Long may he continue. To all his haters,..... tough luck.

  • It's impossible to hate him after the Diana poem. So beautiful.

  • and his new hairstyles ...

  • He's going bald, like his father, so his hairstyles are similar to the forlorn attempts by Andre Agassi years ago It's a modern version of the combover.

  • he'll get hair transplants soon...

where/what on earth will go on with Alonso and McLaren - will he stay if they take on Renault, will he stay if they keep Honda, as to be honest thats McLaren's too options.

I doubt Renault will pay his salary like Honda are doing.

I think he should head to Indy for a year.

  • Nando will flounce to whoever has the most wheelbarrows of cash.

  • Apparently Torro Rosso are ready to pick up Honda engines if/when McLaren split, with Sainz moving to Renault, Palmer out and Japanese F2 driver Nobuharu Matsuhita moving to Torro Rosso.

No room for Kubica it seems.

  • This should be worth a watch:

  • 12 dullards talking bland shite. Can't wait ;-)

  • I'll be there. Circuit is nearly ready. Looking forward to my first Singapore GP.

  • Someone's been trapped in that porterloo.

  • I'm quite looking forward to Alonso/Palmer, Abiteboul/Brown and Hasegawa/Tost.

Lots of Honda/Renault-McLaren/Torro Rosso happenings to discus.

Also, while Kubica to Renault seems like it won't happen, it seems there may be a possibility of a Williams seat for him again!
