For the first time in my life I must be the 1%!
I joined my LBS's club to get the 15% discount and because they kept doing things for free for me and I felt bad about it.
Although riding by yourself all the time is boring, I keep meaning to make the shop rides but then always seem to end up riding with other people. So now I feel bad about that.

I'm going to lay it out there, I think 99% of people join a club because they have some pathetic need to belong, and to give some meaning to their otherwise banal existence. In that respect EC1, Grupetto, RCC, and any club you care to mention are no different.
Ride by yourself, in what you want, where you want, for as long or as little as you want, for free, for the win.
