I don't think that there is anything wrong with trying to position ourselves towards a particular group of people within something like cycling. There are plenty of people, brands and organisations that do it already with cycling other sport.
It's one aspect of the social side of the sport. Corporate money helps pay for and supports the majority of sport in this country and elsewhere.
We aren't lying to ourselves but all sports participation isn't solely jumpers for goal posts.
Fully expect forums like this to bash it, as it's not aligned to what you want from the sport or people associating themselves with it.

For srs tho, if you are keen in improving your diversity and opening up your club, have you tried to look at the percentage of BAME and female or non binary identified employees in the sectors you want to target and recruit equivalent or higher numbers?

This really has descended into a Reddit AMA, I thought someone had dredged the Foffa thread for a second there.

That first quote is old copy from the website, we updated it at the start of the year. The 'data' angle also should have been removed and it quite frankly doesn't make sense!

And this is relevant to this thread or, cycling even, how?
To clear this one up, it may not be directly relevant to the thread or cycling but the experience @greenhell had with Sean Sakinofsky as a child provides much needed colour and insight to the story of how Sean Sakinofsky came to be a professional sock salesman.
Sure, we could just talk about it in simple factual terms (South African man designs socks, sells them on internet) but it would be a pretty cold and sterile story and not at all engaging.
Greenhell's experience speaks to Sean's very character: it may help to explain how he became a veiny legged, sock-selling, wank-talking, freckled purveyor of garish sock designs through the ether.
Perhaps that's what happens to people who can't hack a simple childhood sleepover - who knows - but it is common journalistic practice and if you work in advertising I'm surprised you're not aware of it.
You're young and work in advertising, so you must watch Netflix: think of it as the character development episodes where not a lot happens.

But Dave, I thought we are the unfriendly dicks on bikes?

Thanks for the honest answer, I'm very glad you think that!
I have to confess that I noticed it had been removed from the website and pinched it from the Wayback Machine ;)

to be honest, from what i can remember, sean was a good kid and in his defence, it was probably me being a twat to him that set him off.
if you're reading this, i'm sorry sean. you deserved better.
this is all my fault.

No to be honest, as we don't collect that information from our members. As it's something Mike and I run on the side of our full-time jobs it tough to invest the time needed to carry something out like that. Focusing on growing female membership first.

'unpack'? Do you work in a corporate industry? I run a little cycling collective for like minded individuals that I think would be well up your strada.
Yeah, sponsorship forms a large part of it, as well as lottery funding etc. Never tried to pass it off as philanthropic though, because it ain't!
