  • What kind of adhesive tape has been used to finish off the factory bar tape on my Cannondale? Seems to be better suited to the job than electrical tape. Looks more fibrous and not as plastic (in the deformation sense).

    Also, on bike with drop bar brake levers, wrapping should initially be done clockwise, ie. outwards on the drops as seen from above, so tending to tighten with an outwards hand twist. Then switch to anti-clockwise above the levers, so tending to tighten with a rearwards hand twist. Or is there any reason not?

  • Not sure what's on yours, but self-amalgamating tape does a better job than electrical tape.

    And I've been wrapping bars as you describe, since I saw it on the Park Tools blog: makes sense to me.
