Cheers all. There's nothing in the fridge itself in the way of stagnant water but the drain hole is a possible, I'll have a poke around tonight.

My fridge has a gutter inside at the back with a drain hole. That leads to a plastic reservoir which you can only access from the back. That slides out and can be cleaned.

A quick look down the back of the fridge does show a pipe leading down and a pan at the bottom which I'll look into properly when I get home.

Cleaning out the hole at the back seems to have got rid of the worst of the smell though.
