Did it on the tandem and saw oodles of punctures both on the way to Stratford and all the way around. I reckon it's a combo of people buying a (budget) new bike when they start training, not replacing the (cheap) tyres throughout whatever training they do and then riding 160k on cheap worn out tyres run at too high a pressure.
That and the rain.
On my jolly commute in, I infiltrated the route from Walton bridge to Brooklands, and saw no less than 20 upturned bikes. I don't want to invite the fairies, but I have had one puncture in 16months along that stretch, five times a week. What was going on?
