Skinny resting from storms, is this choosing discretion over valour, given yesterdays sad news? A few others were tweeting they made route changes to avoid roads & pick up cyclepaths.
hippy entertaining with the tweets as ever:

Sensible tactics. Whenever he stops he will be tired enough to sleep. May as well do it early when the storm comes, then early start and ride when it's over.

the hit and run driver has turned theselves in according to the Facebook group
Some filthy weather by the looks of some of videos being posted as well, heavy summer rain

Especially as it's a proper storm, none of the uk style "2 rumbles and nowt else" thunder.

That's in Honau, though, a long way north of where skinny and Geoffroy are.
Dalgas and Goy have overtaken them and kept on riding through whatever is happening there.
It may just have been part of skinny's planned rest stop pattern?

I think the storm is on both sides of the Alps. Camille just (2 hours ago) posted this picture of Bjorn. https://instagram.com/p/BXLspFHna4W/

Ah yes, hadn't checked riders location just pickedup tweet. Still the mountain storms will be big near cp2.
When I visited Stary Smokovec at a similar time of year each afternoon ended with a proper banger. (Edit mixing up my cp's but more storms might await at cp3 so i'll leave this!)
It may just have been part of skinny's planned rest stop pattern?
Tweet suggests hed be riding if conditions safer?

New to the forum, I have a question, what is the significance of the red line at the controls? Thanks
-
• #1213
It hasn't been talked about much, but I assume it's the bonus climb attached to every CP. They have to do that after they check in at the CP. From memory, last year they were actually defined as separate CPs? Looking back at last year's map, they no longer show up like that, probably because the software has changed to accommodate the organisers' wish to no longer have it as a full CP but as that kind of adjunct to it?

Wow, that's a rather big storm, then.

Cheers, I hadn't looked at his Tweets. Goy has jumped to second in the meantime. He's in Bolzano.

On Freeroute, what is the difference between Track/Route and Route Speed vs Moving Speed?
-
• #1220
As mentioned they are the mandatory parcours, bits of route that must be ridden in a specified direction. They can be done before or after the CP, so you see riders doing both, I think they are always "interesting" bits of road, normally climbs

Did you get an answer Oliver? I know her from the Tuesday Tens ; well she did one very powerfully, Gary , Mr Hub Velo, posted a picture of her on their Instagram account. I will see if I can find it.

What's the deal with Ukraine visas and roads? We likely to see anyone route that way and avoid Hungary?

Karen Toast. She's on an Orro Pyro, I presume bought from them as they're a stockist. That's all I know.

Track is what is taken from track leaders. Route is the estimated real distance as it guesses which roads you went on. For example track leaders tends to underestimate quick descents with lots of bends as the tracker doesn't update quick enough
I see it too. If you use the replay slider on trackleaders and take it back a bit, then press play, you can see it looks like he rested for a while.
