Recommend me a cross tyre

I've just converted my steamroller into some kind of mtb thing to hit the gravel trails. It's currently looking like this:

It's the most fun I've had on a bike in a good while, but as you can see the Schwalbe Marathon Plus' are hardly ideal for either grip or speed.

So, can anyone recommend me a good cross tyre that'll perform well on gravel and trails, mostly in the dry, and the odd tarmac commute? Would love something that won't puncture regularly, but it's a long way down on the list of priorities for this one
