Don't stress too much about how 'big' your sprint may or may not be. Positioning and being fresh at the end > fatigued, out of position but with a big top end.

I'm also up for some race-pace ridez! Hit me up on the DM/PM/email

Still SE? Working proper hours or slacker hours right now?

Proper hours. Wednesday morning though???

👍 sounds good. Will see what state the normal bikes are in when I'm back in the country, might even dig out something sans-mudguards.

K-k-k-razy. I'll be happy to do the CSG loop at a clip if you're interested?
You've been well ousted from the top spot.

the trauma of my ousting means I can never return there. Maybe something a bit more shoreham/eynsford way? Not fussed though. Might be a bit wobbly until I adapt to not having panniers/stoker.

Bump!
Considering dabbling in a bit of racing this year but not sure I can commit to a club full-time so thought about racing for LFGSS - I've already got the skinsuits!
Any tips on how to get started? Sign up for BC race licence first I guess? Hillingdon and Herne Hill Velodrome seem to be the closest circuits to me.

Cross season now, depends what events you like to race in.

Get a BC silver license because it includes the race license. Find the series you want to do and sign up then just turn up on the day. There's 5 or so races left in most winter series. The British Cycling event finder is actually pretty good.

Thanks guys.
I probably wouldn't get involved until late Feb anyway. Too cold and too unfit right now!

Was reppin' LFGSS in my first crit yesterday at Hillingdon. It was interesting to say the least. Cat 3/4 with about 40 riders and a lot of choppers around, me included apparently!
Things were going okay to start with until I got a rear puncture 30mins in. Despite the fact I'd already lost I got a spare wheel and rejoined the race for "fun".
I must've been too hasty swapping the wheel out because my QR came loose halfway through the final lap and the rear wheel locked up. I gave up at that point and walked over to the finish line.
This may have been a blessing in disguise because there was a huge crash in the final sprint which resulted in many broken bikes, some broken/fractured bones and one poor guy broke his back apparently. An ambulance was required! I'll take the DNF over a smashed bike and broken bones. I enjoyed the experience and may do the Cat4 only next Saturday but I really don't want to end up in the hospital. :/

I’ll come and support/be a bike mechanic if needed. But I’ll take photos of you guys looking fast.

Raced today.
Good to be back having been off the bike for almost the entirety of last year with combination of shitty work life and then a broken rib.
Been fun getting some semblance of fitness back.
But I'm still really shit at racing.
I'm up for evening/ weekend training rides
