Bloody seatpost sticker! No spare seatpost space due to saddle bag... what to do...
-
• #2253
Raise saddle and strap blocks of wood to feet?
-
• #2254
Stop being such a dweeb and lose the saddle bag.
-
• #2255
Good luck to all taking part tomorrow! Enjoy!!

After seeing about 20 people with punctures by mile 2, I'd rather carry more spare tubes.
Could be worse, I could have a top tube snack bag

• #2257
God forbid.

• #2258
Yep. How the fuck does a seat post sticker work with a saddle bag.
-
• #2259
Couldn't they just use the fucking post?
Amen to this. It is ridiculous having to go to the Excel.
-
• #2260
Could probably put it on a seat stay instead I suppose

• #2261
Apparently mr.wiggins is riding this today.

Brian Cook didn't make it to be official starter.
It was miserable riding in in the dark, it was raining and the streets were full of kids going home 😵 -

Managed to avoid all the rain although the A10 was a bit of a river. Saw crashes at 30, 40, 85 and 95 miles in. One of the later ones looked particularly bad - elderly pedestrian and at least a couple of riders down.
Riding quality was generally alright for the parts of the event I encountered. Signage was good and marshalls did a decent job.
Didn't suffer from cramp this year, although felt a twinge or two by the time I got to Box Hill.

Time to fall asleep on the sofa now, I think.
Didn't see anyone else do it fixed, but saw a couple of single speeds, couple of Moultons, couple of Bromptons, several tandems, a hardtail MTB, a handcycle, recumbent and a Boris Bike. Oh and carbon, lots and lots and lots of carbon.

What time did you start? Relatively late for so many crashes?
I saw some people carrying track pumps on my ride, wasn't surprised to see them come in use though, many a track pump spotted helping a rider in distress -

Good ride for my first time. Started late which didn't help.
Saw someone do it fixed, trikes, bromptons. Panniers. Crashes. Quite eventful

Did it fixed, 48/16 seemed to work better on the hills this time. Saw a couple riding SS, which is proper sadism really.

Did it geared. Good day out. My first 100 too. Managed to fuel and pace it so I had plenty of welly to give in the last 20 miles. Saw some bad crashes too. A nice couple from a Newquay club that I'd been seeing all day stacked it on Millbank and got taken away in ambulances. The third party was a youngish dude wearing football shorts, saddle too low, plastic clips and no straps. He seemed to get away with scrapes when I saw him later. Hmmmm.

06:44 so not that late really. Just some unlucky souls

Started at 8:56 and it went perfectly. Only a brief wait as someone had an off. Think I saw 3 people in total and they didn't look nasty. Weather was spot on and loved the route. Leith hill was the one. Legs are fooked today. First 100 done.

Managed to attach the seatpost sticker in the end, wife's sticker fell off at some point in the ride.
No easy way to start together, so she waited 40 mins for me to join her just after the start.
Didn't stop at the hubs, as the drink stations were quieter and well stocked as well. Clif bars and shot bloks are excellent, barely any need to bring food from home.
Riders were well behaved, some sketchy overtaking by some folks in a rush, but relatively few incidents (3 I saw, including one af 95 miles)
No goodies this year, was looking forward to Cavendish sponsored pistachios.
My wife's first 100, took it easy and just over 6h moving time which she was thrilled with, given that she is suffering from sinusitis at the moment.
Good day out, expensive but tasty burger and chips at the end was very welcome.

Did the Ride 46 with my girlfriend. I really enjoyed cruising around on the closed roads, she really didn't enjoy it. About halfway through she told me it was worse than running a marathon. Think the bike fit was the problem rather than fitness and I couldn't get her to sit on my wheel to block the wind as she was worried about riding into the back of me. Caught up to a lot of knackered looking people who were still struggling through which was impressive to see.
She got a second wind at the point where the 46 and 100 joined up, I think the pressure of missing the cut-off was off and there was a lot more support and a lot more cyclists at that point (we'd started in the last wave so there hadn't been that many people around us).
Came in under 4 hours which is roughly what I was aiming for, saw very little dick cycling even when we joined up with the 100 mile riders who were still belting along at 80 miles and clearly looking for a time.
The 46 route was pretty nice as an introductory long ride, think I only came out of the big chainring twice.

Also, saw about 250 people with punctures, from before the start, just after the start and pretty much every mile on the ride.

Saw a weird thing going through Wimbledon village. Some older MAMIL type, totally lost control of his bike to the point of him riding towards and into the curb, yet the bike was accelerating all the time. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he had a motor and had lost control of it.

Motorised doping for ride 100? Sounds legit
-
• #2275
The dude wasn't even pedalling, yet still accelerating. Bet he enjoyed the hills more than most.
Look on the brightside, quick trip across London for locals, day trip for me if i got in.
Posting would be simple and easier.
