Ok, if locksmith is there. Am sure young ladies are being similarly helpful.

Locksmith not there ...

Can he twist the lock? If a cheap looking lock..
This should be directed to youngdonkey if not already sorted

Nah abus. Anyway all done.
Drilling lock didn't work so he got the angle grinder out and in 5 mins was done. Left lock as a reminder to the pieces of shit that did this.
Others take note - the bike hoops on the canal at the rear of Paddington station off Sheldon square are being hit a lot with this scam. A cyclist who saw my plight told me it was going on and showed other severed d locks.
Am £180 poorer but glad to my bike back

£349 from Screwfix: http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcg412m2-gb-18v-4-0ah-li-ion-xr-5-cordless-angle-grinder/9624g
So two locksmith callouts would pay for one, question is where to keep it?
I chopped my Kryptonite off using a corded grinder, took maybe 10 seconds.

... then load up in the forum trailer and BOOM! mobile forum bike liberation service

problem is you can't carry it around with you and if your bike does get locked by someone else you can't leave it to go and get the grinder.

Watch me. I'll clip it to my saddlebag, it'll be the new tin cup. Radavist will implode with envy...

Quick Google suggests you can get cordless 18V angle grinders for about £125; they might be shite, but presumably they'll last long enough to get through a D-lock?

I used a cheap-ish U-lock lock on a bike when I lived in Brighton a couple years ago, and the lock seized completely when trying to use any of the three keys I had, while locked up outside a busy pub near the Level.
After some deliberation, borrowed an angle grinder off a crusty pal and went at it (with a pair of sunglasses on for spark protection) at about 2pm. A few people walking past made some comments but I just joked that I was stealing it and nobody stopped for longer than a few seconds.
Good for me getting bike back cheaply, bad on the utter ease of stealing a bike in literal broad daylight side of things. Recently contemplated repeating this after dealing with Kryptonite and the key replacement service ...zzzzzzz
Partner has come back to his bike locked up in Paddington to discover a mystery d-lock on it. He's called police who have said he can remove it. Anyone got any recommendations for how (or means of doing it?). All a bit suspicious so I don't think he wants to leave it
