builds ultra light single speed hillclimb bike, keeps two inches of steerer above stem and rear derailleur. To srs hillclimb bike builders who would jettison unrequired organs from their own bodies to shave off a few grams I suspect this would not be acceptable.

Stonecutter?
It's a reference to Breaking Away: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breaking_Away.
The outcast 'Cutters' (sons of unemployed local stone cutters who still hang out at the disused quarry) form a team to take on the arrogant college boys at the velodrome. In Canary Wharf though, the Cutters wouldn't be the bank workers. And I would know.
You'll be saying you haven't seen Quicksilver or En Forårsdag i Helvede next.

"The 39x12 seen here amounted to 85.5 gear inches which proved to deliver too much torque and ultimate chain slip." LOL whut?

Ah, I have seen Breaking away- ages ago now though. I thought it was a reference to Stonecutter court, but that's EC4. Also there is, as you point out, no way that the EC1 bunch could draw a parallel between themselves and the group in the film, without scoring a full 10 on the Morissette scale.

Oh sweet mother of lol. Quarry kids taking college boys on the velodrome? Hahaha!
62 pages of ec1 hate and no one could pick up this reference (even when a picture was provided)?
