I also like the idea of hydrogen cell engines, but the distribution network simply isn't there.

A massive battery VS those parts, but yes you are right: Wear and tear hits everything. Oil filter/oil is once a year, at least.
So, how is this government working out the whole lifecycle? It's just a question, you are right about those parts too.

how is this government working out the whole lifecycle
These are conservatives, if they considered whole lifecycles they wouldn't be so ideologically wed to privatisation and they'd understand Keynesian economics enough to realise that Austerity is economic suicide.

Always thought the 'Hydrogen economy' was a non-starter,
except for manufacturers of ice engines, as they do not have to change too much. The efficiencies of compressing hydrogen to an energy dense fuel are appalling,
as are the costs of a hydrogen-proof fuel tank. What contains more hydrogen; a litre of liquid hydrogen or a litre of petrol?
I'm OK with using low demand period wind power to split water to hydrogen for injection into the gas grid as short term storage/time shift though.

Note: not making entirely serious suggestions, just highlighting the separation of concerns important to a clean fuel economy

My bad, it's Nissan who are developing home batteries using used car batteries - I had been told Tesla, but I was told wrong. Point about the business model still stands, though.

What a wonderful man. His first name is straight out of Tolkien, too.

Enemies of the people though. Can't wait till we do away with 'supreme' courts. Only sovereignty is supreme!

My other half was the barrister on that case.
On the side that lost, but that's probably a good thing.

I thought 'Hobbs' sounded more hobbitish, actually.

A recent letter from a High Court judge to explain his decision.

Truly fascinating, and worth a read.

Lastly, I wanted to tell you that your dad and I enjoyed finding out
that we both love the film My Cousin Vinny, even if it might be for
different reasons. He mentioned it as an example of a miscarriage of
justice, while I remember it for the best courtroom scenes in any
film, and the fact that justice was done in the end.And Marisa Tomei.

Found that quite thought provoking

I thought had an tough job to describe the father to the child without being too..scathing.
-
• #46822
... he holds such very strong views himself, and because I believe that (maybe sincerely and without realising it) he needs you to fall in with his way of thinking
The judge does not go into detail about what the father's 'strong views' are, but if they have anything to do with weird religious cults or conspiracy theories then the Scandi child protection authorities might very well have made his life hell.

Not least by a copy editor
This case is about you and your future, so I writing this letter as a way of giving my decision to you and to your parents
I get the impression that the 'strong views' are more about roles in society, based upon the implied bias against fathers shown by the court, probably with an undercurrent of rejecting authority apart from his own.
A touching read, and it would be fascinating to hear Sam's responses, both now and when he is 18

What the actual fuck?
No time to stop when you're driving this
@mespilus If you burn hydrogen to generate the heat, you get water, which helps solve the water loss problem. Of course, the hydrogen has to be generated somewhere but that concern has been removed from a non-polluting car.
