When it really comes down there's loads of water on the road so they make more of a difference. And you dry sooner when it has stopped, especially at night, as the roads don't dry straight away.
Moist people don't use them but I was really glad I had them last year, and also on IPWR. [freudian typo - meant to write 'most' but 'moist' is better!]
