IMPORTANT INFO:
International riders are more than welcome, but will need to have a valid racing licence to show on the day from their respective country.
UK riders are expected to have completed track inductions (for Novice category) or full track accreditations (for Experienced category) to participate. If you have any questions, please contact us. -

Damn all inductions are sold out :-(
-
• #6
This sounds fun! Is it possible to pre enter or OTL only?
-
• #7
Will there be many international riders?
-
• #8
Most likely with track events probably sign up on the day me thinks.
-
• #9
I'm aiming to be there with camera.....
-
• #10
There's been interest from one or two that we race with around the European crit circuits, yeah.
-
• #11
We are most likely going to just do entry on the day, but if there is a keen interest to enter online then we could possibly do that.

The 6th August session doesn't look very busy on Rider HQ. Might be worth contacting HHV directly to see if you can join in with that? I was at the velodrome a couple of weeks back and the induction only had 16 people taking part. So maybe there's a chance of paying on the day?

Looks like track inductions are sold out :(
I'll give Herne Hill a ring later, but I'll probably have to sit this one out -

I did my induction at Herne Hill years ago and did the intro session at Lea Valley more recently. Is that ok for the novice races?
-
• #23
Herne Hill changed their induction setup about 3 years ago. If you've not been racing recently and your only recent experience is the LV taster then I don't think that's enough to race.
To clear things up, if possible because we get these questions and requests every year.
You're fine to race if any of the following apply to you:
You ride/race regularly at any UK (or international) velodrome.
You have a valid BC license with Track Induction printed on it. This can be from any UK track, but must be a full accreditation.
You have a Herne Hill racing or training accreditation card (issued within the last 3 years)
You have undertaken the HHV track induction within the last 3 years and have taken some beginners track sessions.Category A races are for those with race experience and are open to those with full racing licenses (cat 4 and above) and guest international riders with good racing experience.
Category B races are suitable for novices with less experience and are either category 4 or uncategorised riders.
Yes, cat 4 can choose either A or B.

Get down early to avoid disappointment. Categories are limited to 35 riders max and sign on will be between 11am to 12pm.
Racing will start around 12.20-12.30.
Weather looks like it's gonna be perfect

Solid day. Hard riding. Good weather. Stellar organising.
Cheers.

ThunderTrack is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Same format, same venue, same vibes, but even better than last year.
Enter one of four racing categories (see below for more information) and race four events to win awesome prizes from our sponsors. With bonus prizes for consistency with our overall winners taking home even more swag.
Equal prizes are on offer for men and women with categories for experienced and novice riders. This is (probably) the most fun you can have going around in a circle.
Entry is £15 on the day (plus an extra £2 for a day licence if you don't currently hold a valid racing licence). Spectating is free and the new pavillion at Herne Hill Velodrome is very comfortable for all your viewing needs.
Riders can enter the Experienced category if they hold a licence and are riding between Elite and category 3 status (BC points are on offer in this category). If you are category 4 or don't currently have a racing licence then you will ride in the novice category, the perfect introduction into track racing. There are Experienced and Novice categories for both men and women.
Races include Devil (elimination), Scratch, Points and Keirin (including Tony on his Derny). We might even throw in a longest lap/trackstand if we have time.
We'd like to thank our generous sponsors for helping make this event possible:
Bell Bike Helmets UK - Altura Technical Bikewear - Hiplok - Spin Industries - Standert Bicycles - BLOC Eyewear - Selle San Marco - AssSavers
See you down at the track on the 13th!!!!!
