Always thought the 'Hydrogen economy' was a non-starter, except for manufacturers of ice engines, as they do not have to change too much.
The efficiencies of compressing hydrogen to an energy dense fuel are appalling, as are the costs of a hydrogen-proof fuel tank.
What contains more hydrogen; a litre of liquid hydrogen or a litre of petrol?
I'm OK with using low demand period wind power to split water to hydrogen for injection into the gas grid as short term storage/time shift though.
Note: not making entirely serious suggestions, just highlighting the separation of concerns important to a clean fuel economy
