• Lynne B had one on during the National 24hr. It looks like it came in handy.

    Personally I hate them and even when they are a good idea I normally don't bother with them.

  • National 24h in north west England, I can understand but the rain that will hit in the Balkans, whe it comes is so torrential that no mudguard will save you and the rest of the time they are a mechanical waiting to happen.

  • I rode through that huge storm last year because I'm a fucking idiot. Mudguard would've done nothing. Passing trucks kicked up as much water again as was coming from the sky, knocking headphones out of my ears from under my rain jacket. I had to laugh...

  • However much it has rained, anywhere in the world, I've always found I've been dryer than people riding with me without mudguards! When it really comes down there's loads of water on the road so they make more of a difference. And you dry sooner when it has stopped, especially at night, as the roads don't dry straight away.
    Moist people don't use them but I was really glad I had them last year, and also on IPWR. [freudian typo - meant to write 'most' but 'moist' is better!]
