  • A fair amount of slack for a TT bike, access hole to the top tube is quite wide, plus the stem (later covered by a 3d printed top cap that gives that aero finish) has enough room around it, but if you leave too much slack, the outer will push against the 3d printed top cap and the result won't be perfect, last time I opted for some zip ties to hold the outer as close as possible to the stem without compromising steering.

  • Ahh..so you have to loop the whole thing around the steerer. Salute on that.
Not sure If I prefer cowling around the steerer or complete integration.

  • Here's a pic I took from the previous build, outers not installed yet but it gives you an idea of where they need to go through (there is another hole on the other side of the stem):

    Etap tt madness...

That really is not enough space for outers, let alone the etap stupidity. I could never get why shimano managed to streamline their tt setup, but SRAM just threw you this frikking bus sized controller with it.
Which begs the question of where the hell are you putting that?

Heat-shrink tube to keep the four Blips cables "tidy", drill a small hole on the side of aero stem cover to route them out and glue the Blipbox mount on the top of the handlebars.

    bullettohead.gif indeed.

  • At the end we didn't get a DA groupset so went Etap instead:
(sorry for lack of disc as pointed out by @umop3pisdn )

  • Damn, that's sick. And I don't really like TT bikes.

Wouldn't it be more aero though to position the quick release lever horizontally on the front wheel?

Yes, it would, actually thanks for reminding me to put some domed allen bolt skewers tomorrow.

  • What model is that?

  • Cheers!

  • Is that the Walser bike?

  • Surely the threads done after this.

  • Readers'?
@tommmmmmm & myself chilling after our first 50 on Saturday

  • Wow, how did I not even know this thread existed?

  • W124 is tres hip-hop 🙂

  • w201

My mistake, in that case chop it in for a W124 🙂

  • Very nice Pursuit Champ Lukas.

I don't suppose you happen to know of any seatposts that also fit in this frame besides the originals?

  • Thank you :-)
None you can buy off the shelf (AFAIK) but a few frames share the post.
Was searching for a replacement for a while, after the my first frame was supplied with a post that was a bit too short. In the end I accidentally met another (shorter) PC owner and we swapped posts. Before meeting him I'd ordered a Fuji one from the US which looked similar (and had same clamp) but ended up tapering out to the same dims as a PX Stealth/Pro Carbon Track post, and I designed/printed off a 3D-printed plastic extension piece to glue onto my shorter one as a last resort (which almost certainly would have failed had I used it).
This probably won't be helpful, but below is a list of frames I've found (so far) to use the same seatpost moulding:

    • Planet-X Stealth Track (the old aluminium one)
    • Hed Aerolab V03 & V04 TT bikes
    • Blue TR250 track bike
    • (I'm sure there's one more but can't remember it. Will update if so!)

Also, I bought the frame (and swapped shorter post) from the guy I swapped posts with - incidentally the polished one in the photo is that frame, after I found a NOS uncut unicorn Hed V04 post at the January NCC Jumble for £5(!) so still have the shorter one spare if you need. If you're taller than 5'8", however, it's probably too short.
