We had a cat that would use the catflap even though the door was open.

Ours do that. Stand there headbutting the locked cat flap when the door 10cm away is wide open.

Had the first instance of one of our cats not coming home last night. Didn't think I would get so upset or lie in bed thinking all the bad thoughts of her being hit by a car, bitten by a dog, taken for dog fighting bait(??!!), cat-napped for a pet etc etc. Rather than thinking that she was probably locked in neighbour's garage, which turned out to be the case.

Insurer (Sainsbury's) is increasing from £152 to £185 for ours. Any recommendations on alternatives?

So she now goes out the flap unaided but hasn't yet worked out she can come back in that way. Progress!

I think they're should be a rule on this thread

Looked after this little one for a few weeks

Can't remember if I posted these already..
But my parent's neighbors have had a stray with kittens in their chicken coop.
They're going to look after them until they're 12 weeks old and then a local cat shelter is going to put the mother and three of the kittens up for adoption. They are going to keep the red one themselves.

Back home after 2 weeks, was slightly concerned Fleur would have scorned us for abandoning her but she seems as nonplused as ever which can only be a good sign.

They know if you love them or not! Whenever I have come back from being away, Patch always gives me that "You bitch" look whilst she purrs and rubs against my legs...

After 6 years at the same address my two adorable cats have found a new game, jump over the back gate, walk to front windows, meow, then get let in via the front door, and repeat. This in addition to sitting at the back door meowing to be either let in or out. In the last few months they have point blank refuse to use the cat flap for some reason.

Had to say farewell to this guy the other week. He was 21 and his kidneys had packed in and was no longer eating etc so we had to do the only compassionate option.
He'd been completely deaf for last few years and struggled a bit with arthritis but was otherwise completely compos mentis, always happy to be around people and very tolerant of little kids.
He'd literally never bitten or scratched anyone in his whole life – it was uncanny.
Will miss ya fella.

What a lovely cat.

Saw one of my cats outside this morning, and was laughing at her as she was going nuts tracking a fly.

Then I realised there was no fly, and her movements did not look voluntary...

Yet more vet bills...

She's OK now, and if the blood tests rule out anything environmental, that leaves epilepsy, or other less common neurological conditions.

And more vet bills...
