  • Also, in other news I'm having a doubts about keeping this bike. I'm really enjoying the simplicity of commuting on my single speed.

And as the CFD is mostly used for commuting with a few tours a year it seems a bit too much bike for the purpose.

"What would you replace this?" with I hear you cry! Well my current speculation is as follows. I finally managed to get some Salsa forks with a thru axle and a tapered steerer second hand for my 29er mtb:

Which I will get a full set of islets put on so I can run all the racks I currently do AND anything cages. I have a spare rim, which I will build a dynamo into. I can put a platform rack on or a low rider like I currently have if need, and slicks and go touring or off road. Basically a set up like @Hulsroy has atm:

The SS I currently have is fun, but not wildly practice the forks can only take 25c and mudguards, and has better brakes.

So, I'm very tempted to use my cycle2work voucher to get this (or similar):

Sell my single speed, pop the rack on the day one, maybe a cheap dynamo setup and have a more functional commuter, that's more simple.

Is this a stupid plan? what do you think?

I am concerned that as @Spotter is riding SS brakeless all the cool kids will be doing this soon.

He has updated the picture now and ruined my fun.
