I’ve dived into an excerpt of a Facebook discussion which I know nothing about (who are Sally and Alton?), my immediate interpretation of the cut and paste was “yeah, of course we did”; being the first settlers there, we can take credit for all the good and bad since, can’t we?
Which to me, a Brit with zero Aussie heritage, was pretty easy to conclude.
But now I can see the confusion within the statement if Sally is of Australian persuasion.
