In one sense @amey 's right - EC1 simply don't matter that much, are only another 'tribe' in the culture of cycling, many of which are also guilty of positioning themselves as superior to other types of cyclists. Which in general means no one really gives a shit about any of them because their (negligible) impact is so niche. But I previously gave a shit about EC1 when the first started because they positioned themselves as a City version of an old-boys club to network, with the accompanying inference of No Women, No Minorities, No Poor People. I don't really know who actually makes up the EC1 'collective' at the moment, my guess would just be harmless brosefs. But just because we live in the Internet Age doesn't mean everything is permissible, everyone's motives are valid, every club and organisation deserves a shot and an equal voice. Some people are selfish, some people perpetuate fucked up value systems to other people's detriment and should so be asked to be held to account and/or explain themselves. I asked this of the founder. He never emailed back.
Anyway, others clubs like Brixton Cycles do not suffer from the majority of these pitfalls and should throw into relief most of the failings of EC1 and the self-aggrandising micro.cc's and who, in my opinion, make it hard to just say 'bros let bros live and let live'.
