I owned a GT for years which is based on the same platform. It was ultra reliable and only had a problem with rust when an incompetent mechanic jacked it up on the sills rather than the jacking points and split the seams.
Built quality was as good as any Volkswagen or BMW I've had and it made a decent nice change from a Golf, a 3 Series or an A3. Selespeeds appear to become problematic so I'd avoid those but other than that, like any car, just find a good one.
Anyone on here ever owned an Alfa 147?
I'm in the market for a cheapish medium sized car with a bit of poke and been eyeing up some of the later facelift models. They're far more appealing to me than the alternative ford focus, vauxhall astra type school run boxes on offer within my budget. I'm well aware of thier reputation for having shitty electrics and being generally Italian in terms of build quality, but are they actually that terrible in reality?
Going to view a couple this week is there anything I should look out for?
