• @Dazaa, I've got an embarrassingly nice LP12 that my girlfriends dad dug out of storage and lent us. Unfortunately it plays a bit flat which (after a brief google) makes me think that maybe the belt got stretched when it was transported? Do you know who in London I could get it serviced by?

  • Billy Vee in Lewisham does (or at least used to) do Linn.
I bought stuff from them but fit own any Linn equipment so can't really comment, Dazaa may recommend a better address...

  • belts stretched over time ? maybe use talcum powder to help grip / tighten if that doesnt work , buy a new belt . servicing linns grahams audio n1 . audio gold . but may be expensive ......

  • Hi, once in motion it shouldn't require much grip. As long as it's not super stretched, etc... There is so much more to tuning the sound., The belt is probably lowest on the list.. The suspension needs to be of the right bounce and dead level. The tonearm vertical tracking alignment, tracking force, azimuth... What's the tonearm and cartridge? The tonearm cable mustn't snag. Then the cartridge mass has to match tonearm mass. Then the impedance of the cartridge matched to the input transformer/phono stage...
