  • Even if you don't see it.

The more important thing is that nobody will see it

One more question: did Basso mix Shimano and Campagnolo?

I doubt that they would have done on OTP bikes, but it was not uncommon on bikes which were user-built from the frame up, or had upgrades. If it had full Super Record from new, it would make sense as a rider to get the 1050 shifters and brakes as both were better than 20th Century Super Record :)

Wow, thought 1050 was a typo, but you were right. Just checked velobase. But was 1050 so much superior to the Super record assuming it was originally installed? 1050 also was 20th century, 80s even.

  • was 1050 so much superior to the Super record

Yes, night and day. Pre-Synchro Campag was shit for changing gear, 1050 actually had indexing which worked well. In fact, even the Suntour VX was a vastly superior rear dérailleur to pre-Synchro Campag, and SIS (IIRC, 1050 was the first 105 generation with SIS) stole the good Suntour geometry and added indexing which was another great leap forward.

My comment about 20th Century was just to eliminate the latest re-use of the Super Record brand by Campag.
