I've got a guy building a chainguide but for now I'm just using an old Ultegra FD locked off with limit screws. I think I got it off Scherrit but LBS might be able to help. I have two Campag FDs but I think the limit screws might been missing. You're welcome to them - you could probably bodge something with a short piece of cable to hold it out where it needs to be.
I've pulled a wheel before, in Wales, in a 100mi or 12hr I forget. I blame Scherrit. Which is odd because he always does them waaay tighter than I do. Anyway we joke about it but he's not allowed to touch my skewers (ooh nurse).
I plan to, was just cming here to see if you'd had any success using a sacrificial front mech, I think ive got one that's conveniently seized up so presuming I can move it enough to put it in the outer chainring position it should work treat, if not i'll eed to find something to keep it pushed outwards...
my mechanical last week was not doing my rear tight enough and pulling it in the dropout, causing my rear wheel to slightly rub for the run from the roundabout to the finish, it wasn't enough to feel in the heat of the moment but I couldn't understand why I was 100m from my minute man at the roundabout and was still 100m from him 3 miles later, once I slowed after finish it was immediately noticeable!
