The Tour in, I think, 2005. Vinokourov was a few seconds behind Leipheimer, attacked on the final stage with Brad McGee and they stayed away. Vino moved up a place on GC.
But I'd agree with the rest of your comment, Sky don't need to move Landa up, especially if he's leaving the team at the end of the year, and the reputational damage wouldn't be worth it. It would make them even more unpopular in the peloton too, which can come back to haunt you.

Boardman said it himself that it would make the French hate Sky even more.... Do it

• #3884
Froome avoided the awkward question from Flecha about Landa being one second back quite well.

On the other hand, unlike the UK it does actually still contain bread and was baked by a human being (even if it did have dirty hands and gingivitis)

It was quite funny listening to David Millar explaining how he'd been helping Bardet with his TT prep and pacing strategy.
Almost as much fun as Lance rinsing BMC whilst George Hincapie looked a bit sick in the corner on that podcast. -

Whilst money isn't everything.
Landa was one second away from another €30,000 in prize money.
And Bardet lost €100,000 today. Ouch.

Can't polish a turd comes to mind.

Froome should take the booing as a compliment. The French booed Hinault and Anquetil, and they used to punch Merckx.

they used to punch Merckx.
And now he's revered. Maybe people would like Froome more if they got to punch him in the face a little bit?
Yes, that's why I watch the mountain stages. No need for a hill climb in a TT.
