I used to have some Curana CLite guards which i made carbon stays for. Turned out pretty light and worked for a good couple of years until the guard snapped at the brake bridge. You could easily do the same thing with chromeplastics.
The stays were made from carbon kite rod, JB Welded to the existing metal guard interface (covered in heatshrink). And then mecanno rear stay fixings.
Those Swarf carbon guards are cool (thou £120) but would be even better with carbon stays.
Bleach bottle ftw.^
Anybody ever had/hybridised stuff to make a really light mudguard? I found some carbon ones that are sub 400g with fixings, but they're astronomically expensive, £120 to be exact.
Was thinking Chromplastic with alloy stays, not sure if it's even possible. Scoblatron mentioned doing this years ago, but didn't show his workings so I always wondered if it was a pipe dream that never happened aka bullshit.
Also: have a rear PDW narrow if anybody wants one, and a front with thru-fork section bit removed (badly).
