That's been the argument used by lots of cycle tourists for using wrapping rather than a box. They tend to travel with overbuilt steel frames though, not £5k worth of carbon.

im just glad i have a ti frame and the only carbon is the fork. I think i'd cry if I had to send a carbon frame like that
