I guess Squabs was referring to your/Peter White's experiments. It has to be said the Berthoud steel stays are nicely made with the flat section. As a matter of interest, did you ever weigh the setup? And did you fit two stays or one?
I went for Honjo$$$$ in the end ... Saw some Ti ones!! But they are US$250 which even a poser like me can't quite stomach, what with shipping being $70 more or something crazy.

Anybody ever had/hybridised stuff to make a really light mudguard? I found some carbon ones that are sub 400g with fixings, but they're astronomically expensive, £120 to be exact.
Was thinking Chromplastic with alloy stays, not sure if it's even possible. Scoblatron mentioned doing this years ago, but didn't show his workings so I always wondered if it was a pipe dream that never happened aka bullshit.
Also: have a rear PDW narrow if anybody wants one, and a front with thru-fork section bit removed (badly).
