If t'weren't for bad luck, that Dan Martin would have no luck at all [/mygran]

Severe gastric flew has swept through the team apparently. Cue lots of jokes about wind on ITV coverage

Apparently Degenkolb grabbed Matthews by the throat afterwards, seen by officials

WTF!

Just seeing talk of it on Twitter, not seen it myself though

Degenkolb bottled that sprint. He had the room and wasn't samurai enough to take it.

Classic Chinese whispers: I read he grabbed by the neck and wrote throat here, but by the looks of that he grabbed him by the back of the neck, then sorta waved his hand in his face.

looks more like a wee slap to the puss.
cyclists fighting is just lols.

First the water bottle thing in the Worlds, now this. Degenkolb looks like he's turning into a sore loser, which I think is a pity.

Great stage today!
Another noob question - what happens if hypothetically Kittel goes OTL next stage, but Matthews still does not close the points gap to him all the way into Paris? Matthews still wins?
-
• #3217
I'm not excusing Degenkolb, but I said at the time he'd be annoyed. Matthews jumps from GVA's wheel and Degenkolb went with him and Matthews closes the door on him by steadily veering to the right. Probably clever as it didn't raise the ire of the commissaires, and any relegation would have been OTT, but it was either sloppy sprinting by not holding his line, or gamesmanship. Degenkolb is entitled to have a moan, but not put his hands on Matthews.

If Kittel doesn't finish he doesn't win the jersey

Alot of history to wade through for these 2 questions... Has the Lantern Rouge ever won the final Paris stage? Else has the winning rider / team also had the Lantern Rouge in their roster?

@rhb that's a question for Max Leonard @maxl who published a whole book on the subject of Lanterne Rouge.

Oh to be pro
He started his sprint on one side of the road, ended it on the other side
