Good to see this thread going again. 99p frame has great rat potential!

I'm quite excited by the whole venture too...
I've geeked out a bit on the background shizzle this past half-hour and have decided it's an Armstrong Consort, and that the lugs are Ekla. - late 50's most likely.

I'm good thanks fella....did the tile issue get sorted satisfactorily?
That'll build up nicely....and I can't help but think that the chap in the advert will be riding in supreme comfort in that attire! -

WW level: Model LIFTED (very easily!). Happy for RVL's ugly ducklings coming back to life!

Tiles all looking good thanks
and the guy who rectified it did an excellent job.
2 years on and all spillages are still pooling nicely (Miracle sealant - literally).re: the poster, I'm sure that in the eyes of his clubmates those trousers and shiny new steed marked him out as having all the gear and no idea!

Indeed, an excellent yardstick for a classic lightwieght - can you lift it (easily)?

First part cleaned and ready .
Next step is to clean up the frame and clearcoat over the rusty bits.

I fitted the headset and here it is with proposed wheels (freecycle courtesy of @Yukirin, they were on my daily over the winter so they're looking a bit battered and could do with a clean up and I'll also need to file some flats onto them to fit into the dropouts, but they run well and they're the only spare wheels I have at the mo so they'll do!

So we're £1 down and looking pretty good so far!
I'm off on my hols for a couple of weeks so there won't be any more progress for a while... -

Bloody holidays, ruining everyone's cp threads.

Any updates on this?

Sadly, nothing moving this end, All my free time's been gobbled up by a business venture that started around the same time as the Armstrong project - some day soon I'll quit the day-job and get my free-time back again!

The forks are going on my brother's Argos, but the frame is pretty light (aelle) and it has charming patina

Very interested in what you do with this. I have a nice steel frame from the 90s in similar condition. I did this with it
But I'm going to make it risers4lyfe soon

^Haha - that's pretty much the sort of thing I'm planning - modern groupset, tanwall tyres and general ratty road set up

I'm gonna make rust great again
Reassuring
Sadly it will never see the level of care and attention of a stedlocks-steed.
Good to hear from you, hope you're doing well
