  • Crazy thing happened today. Last year I obtained an old Merckx Professional frameset . I started searching on the internet for pictures of professional teams (to check if it was a team livery or not) and I found this picture of Jos Haex, until that moment someone completely unknown to me. I used the picture to finish my bike and forgot about it.

Yesterday I bought a GT mountainbike (late nineties, just needed some of the XTR-parts that were on it) from the 2dehands site here in Belgium. It took me a 150 km ride to pick up the bike and when I arrived, an old men (75 or more) opened the door. He invvited me to his "man cave": an old barn full of material from the eighties. Somewhere between a Mavic 500 and a Campa Record wheelset an old photo was hanging on the wall. I looked at it just a bit longer than normal and the old man asked me if I maybe knew the rider on it. I said I didn't but that I used exactly the same photo to restore a bike from early eighties. He started smiling:"Oh, that's my son". :-)

  • I just got this Corsa SL this Spring, almost unridden. I ditched the S8 stuff and built it up to date with Potenza 11 and some other stuff I liked. It is just a great ride, and holds its own in its new gestalt...

  • Your rear brake quick release is open, at the lever. Turn the little metal cylinder on the outside of the lever (just above the hinge of the lever) inside.

  • Such an eye! I was just fine tuning and had the rear wheel off, as I tried out a new quick release...

  • Can't help but notice. How do you like the Potenza stuff?

  • Potenza seems to a little crisper shifting, perhaps due to new technology developed in the 12speed charrette. I have Chorus on my other bike, which I like, but this feels and acts slightly better.
