When I looked into this before, I also got different answers: either replace the whole steerer (which is what Winston has done) or cut the threaded section off and replace with an unthreaded section.
Weather willing I shall be picking up my newly steerer tubed replaced forks from Winston on Monday.
He did say that unsurprisingly the chrome will be buggered, although I'm hoping that's just at the crown area.
Thanks for that.

This is the best kind of weird!

god damn that green splatter looks awesome. how many shekels does sir's palm need crossed with to perform such feats of polychromy upon bike frames?
-
• #205
'Max Power' is a good way to described the Chromaflair ;) I've not seen anyone do it nicer than Hulsroy but now I mention it I'm not sure if it's actually Spectraflair he's got on his?
-
• #206
Something to bear in mind with spectraflair is that its a lot more subtle most of the Time, its only in direct sunlight that it really kicks off. I like it a lot, but it can be a bit of an anticlimax the first time you see it.

That's yours? Funnily enough I saw that rear end and thought "looks a bit like Suffolk's frame..." But then for some reason decided you had sold it.
Looks bonkers, in a good way.
-
• #211
Oooo that does look very cool! Paint pron>>>>
-
• #212
I did sell it, then had a Richard Burton moment and bought it back.
Funnily enough, the backside reminds me of you.
In a good way.
-
• #213
TBH, you could just link his 'gram to the pintpron thread and be done with it.

• #214
Gross chuckling.

• #215

Pretty good. Pretttttttty, pretttttttttty, pretttttty good. Saw this on Insta too and little did I know, well done for getting this back and doing the right thing.

• #219
I was gonna write exactly that :D can't wait for the next season which will air by the end of the year iirc.
The frame was always a beauty, now it has a paintjob that does it justice! -
• #220
Thanks!
I felt obliged, as @hazzus "was planning on an obnoxious spray job" and the condition for @fidbod kindly selling it back to me was that it got a lairy coat.
Fortunately for me, Colourburn Studio did an outstanding job of interpreting my fairly broad brief and were also an utter pleasure to deal with.

La crème de la crème Mec !

• #222
Looks interesting- suspect it needs to be seen in person to really appreciate the paint.
-
• #223
Ha!
Very diplomatic.

• #224
Yeh, not loving the photos.
Find it hard to accept colourburn does bad work so gonna withhold judgement
What's the plan for it post studies?
-
• #225
It's ok if you don't like it, doesn't mean colourburn does bad work...
