This looks cool! Do love that stem, think I preferred the shape of the swept back black bars it came with but it's definitely not worse off with these

do you really need new bars? If you're not expecting him/her to carry any weight, just fudge it?
something like this

Much betterment, I thought about zip ties, bit then she couldn't carry basket around (if she wanted).
How do we feel about alloy posts getting scratched on insertion because the previous owner somehow did something so now when you put a post into the seat tube it gets scratched?
-
• #115530
I think sometimes seat tubes just need the burrs sanded out (sandpaper round a broom handle?). Never bothered but I've also not had a really new / nice seatpost that I didn't want getting scratched.
Could have been the previous owner but also might have never been sorted out after manufacturing

Yeah sanding isn't A problem, more now the seatpost is scratched (and it's alloy) is it safe?

I guess it depends how deep... And how much stress it's under... Cant really help soz, but I have ridden some severely scratched seatposts without a second thought
-
• #115533
Yeah, i think that too. Just I'm not riding it and I'll be the responsible adult...
I'm sure itll be fine.

Scratches in line with the axis are basically OK. Circumferential scratches above the clamp are potentially problematic, as the main stress crosses the scratch.
-
• #115535
Scratches are circumferential under the clamp point. So if it's weakened, it's weakened.

What does it weigh?
-
• #115541
I don't know as I would need to remove all the parts to weight it.
Weight is not so much of an issue for me since I am personally not the lightest...

Lovely morning in the shed. Finally finished the super-commuter with a tester top cap. Loving mudguards and 50mm tyres this winter. Plus new headset and post on the roadie.

I thought the Tester Top Cap was so you could slam that stem?

That super-commuter is amazing.

Hehe, yep is stack-tastic. I think the original fork must have had a bigger a-c as the head tube is tiny for its size. Still rides great though, ritchey logic tubing is lovely.

Commuter looks great!
I need new risers, black, for a kids bike that'll let me put a basket on.
At the moment I have this.
I would need a longer bit on the top or more space at the bottom....
