Are concerns about carbon clinchers vs carbon tubs dated ? I.e. stories of the braking surface collapsing etc. For reference the wheels I have ordered are a planet x trispoke & disc - would tubs be a safer option?

Well either will be fastest with a 19/20mm tub - I know they say optimised to 23/25mm but that's nonsense. Both tubs and clinchers are getting hard to find in those widths so it's just down to personal preference really.

Edit - mind you it says that the clincher brake track is 23mm/17mm internal (body also says the wheel is 19mm wide...) - go clincher IMO. Not like the weight matters.

It was only ever an issue at high temperatures generated by sustained heavy braking, not something you're likely to experience on your TT bike.

Lol, I melted the epoxy between the metal rim and carbon of a hed3 a couple of years ago in a (mega hilly) TT....

@Cycliste and I both did our first 100 mile TT this morning at the EDCA District Championships on the B100/4 course. @Cycliste had a rather eventful ride featuring one crash, two punctures and a broken Garmin mount which ended up being held together with gaffer tape. However, thanks to support from another club member she was able to finish with a time of 4h48m40s, beating the women's club record for a 100 by 35 minutes.

I had a rather uneventful ride, apart from having 3 bottles auto-eject, and finished on 3h56m57s, which was enough for 3rd on scratch.

My legs are achy.

I rode the 75 miles to Hunstaton yesterday. I did not average over 25mph. By some margin.

Well done. I did a 4.08.45 with no bottle ejections. In fact I drunk less than a litre from a bladder.

Is it normal for it to hurt to pee after a 100? Need to sort out a saddle solution as it was a major discomfort.

Felt I paced it well though, first three 25's were about 62 mins and the last was 63 mins.

For the record, the bladder was s camelback type one down the front of my skin suit and is not related to the paragraph that follows it.

Is it the same course I raced a few years ago? Can be fast but often windy. Uses a lot of lanes and had traffic lights when I rode it so Newbury much faster for me.
Eat whatever you would normally eat, take other options.
I raced it I think 3 weeks after smashing the National 24hr so was probably fucked so 4 weeks training is much better than racing a 24hr.

I race clincher and turbo cottons so they must be good to make up for the overweight alcoholics pushing the pedals.

If you're braking during a TT you're doing it wrong.

Caveat: I don't TT in the Alpes.

Arundel Mandible bottle cage on an Arden BTA mount. I think the problem is that the Podium bottles don't have a proper neck on the bottles to hold them in place. That and the awful road surface.

To complete the weekend's racing action round-up, we also both did the Team Cambridge event on the F2D/10 course on Saturday. Distance PBs for both of us - 21:23 for me and 23:49 for @Cycliste.

I'm using a Dash Stage saddle these days. @Cycliste has Adamos on her TT bikes, but I don't think they have the transition hook, and she managed to hold onto her bottles. Just failed to keep it rubber-side down on the first lap.
