  • More transparency wouldn't hurt. If the president of the race jury explained the decisions in person, including the reasoning, people would be better informed.

    The rules are vague because, sadly, they are written by a committee. Not sure how the UCI can change that, the whole structure is committee-centric.

  • But the rule isn't clear whether the offence is in simply taking a bottle, or actually drinking from it. I mean that's fairly fundamental.

    And the most fundamental thing they need to do is get some ex-pros as commissaires, as the Sagan debacle showed. The race really misses him.

  • I think any confusion there was my fault, I thought the rule was about consumption, so a rider could take a bottle and pour it over their head. But it's clear, you can't take a bottle from anyone in the final 20 kms.
