There are 2 other bearings in the hub:
(Basically this hub with a shorter freehub body)They take care of axial loads? and it could work?
edit: never mind, I took another look at the freehub driver and there is no spacer between the bearings! Its just the bevel edge that fooled me. So it is already in side-by-side configuration...
No, but the outer races do. If both the inner and outer races of side-by-side bearings are locked together, it's impossible to adjust the axial offset to take up the clearances. This may not be a problem if the bearings are loaded in a purely radial direction, but that depends on having two other bearings in the hub which are dealing with the axial loads.
