What you want to do is buy my Spesh Grail gloves... :)
Used on one of your long rides? My gloves are unpleasant enough after just one audax...
Obvously the sensible thing would have been to have tried out a load of gloves well before LEL, but I haven't... have heard others recommend specialized too. Am usually on hoods as well.

I tested them on a couple of commutes and an aborted 400k so they've not done much. Also, my stuff doesn't really stink with the exception of the stench jacket of doom and the Walmart Super Socks.
But you've need big hands.
Personally, I would buy another pair of Spesh gloves, but, try them out in a shop and see if you like them.

Seriously though, I like Specialized mitts. It does depend on your regular hand position. I'm usually on the hoods when not using aerobars.
