Muzzdog wins again. Congrats. Enjoyed Cameron getting booed. Till next year.

It looked like his old mother didn't know what was going on so he explained. Awks
-
• #655
His mum looked like she was controlling the game with her mind. She's scary.
-
• #656
Dave then could be a mind trick gone terribly wrong?
-
• #657
Ohhhh I'm talking about Murray's mum
-
• #658

Bernard Tonic loses, looks like he DGAF, and then said he's bored of tennis and "couldn't care less" how well he gets on in tournaments, after 10 years on the tour circuit.
So is he going to give up on tennis?
Nah, give it another ten years or so, it's a good lifestyle. I bet his fans can't wait to keep following him!

My mate's mum will be delighted with that - he rents her house in Wimbledon for the fortnight, and he's clearing off home after a couple of days - again. The guy is a magic money tree.
-
• #664
Sounds like he's quite optimistic. By the sound of it he's only going to bother with a couple of days at a time from now on...

On a different note I went today for my first time. Got there just after 4, was in after 6 and got a ticket for court 2.

As a British citizen who else could she represent?
-
• #667
Yeah, I know what you're asking. She was born in Australia and spent half her life there. Shrug. People move. Not a big deal.
-
• #668
Yep, that or letting someone become a British citizen if they've lived half their life here. All amounts to the same. But if you knew the answer why ask the question
-
• #669
Not really. She gets to choose.
I have a friend with a legitimate claim on about 8 different countries (grandparents, parents, birth, residence, citizenship, etc). The world is a lot more mobile now and boundaries a lot more blurred.

Zanzibar, eh. Now there's an idea...
Dammit! Scuppered by number 4:
Any person who is not a citizen of Tanzania whether by birth or by descent may apply for Tanzania citizenship by naturalization to the Minister responsible for citizenship matters.
CONDITIONS FOR CITIZENSHIP BY NATURALIZATION
Qualifications for a foreigner who applies for Tanzania Citizenship are:
i. that he has resided in the United Republic throughout the period of twelve months immediately preceding the date of application,ii. that during the ten years immediately preceding the said period of twelve months he resided in the United Republic for periods amounting in the aggregate do not less than seven years,
iii. that he has an adequate knowledge of Kiswahili or the English language,
iv. that he is of good character,
v. that, in terms of his past and potential contribution to the national economy, or scientific and technological advancement and to the national social and cultural welfare, he would be a suitable citizen of the United Republic,
vi. that he intends, if naturalized to continue to reside permanently in the United Republic.
Edit - Tl:dr probably easier to become a British tennis player...

Yep, times change. Personally I can't understand when people are proud to be something that they had no input in. I'm no more proud to be British than I am proud to be white, or male, or straight. I'm certainly lucky to be all of those, in terms of the privilege it's afforded me but proud has never felt the right word.
I suppose times change, I will now become a Jewish Rastafarian and a citizen of Zanzibar......
Good luck to you. Always thought it a bit odd that people are born into some religions, far healthier that you pick it now you've grown up.

• #672
She's only British if she wins
-
• #673
Certainly. In things that I do or help others to do. But what is there to be proud of if you've contributed nothing.
I'm pleased if Murray wins, but I'm not proud of him.Or straight from a dictionary definition:
"feeling deep pleasure or satisfaction as a result of one's own achievements, qualities, or possessions or those of someone with whom one is closely associated." -
• #674
So presumably Murray reverts to his Scottish persuasion now then?
-
• #675
Presumably people will keep recycling this joke until he retires? It was maybe funny about 5 years ago.
