Satellites generally that aren't in a geostationary orbit must surely be quite hard to explain if you're a Flat Earther. If they Earth is flat then non-geostationary satellites keep moving around without any means of propulsion 4eva and eva. Neat trick.

By making up a whole heap of bollocks in a desperate attempt to cling to their loony theory?

The sad reality is that the Flat Earth Theory and many others were started to troll people, but people are fucking idiots and the trolling becomes self sustaining once enough people fall for it. See also - the alt right. It's the internet's fault.

I've spent the last three months in the company of a flat-earther, so I'm a little consoled to find I'm not the only one who has to deal with this errant nonsense.
Highlights as follows:
- "If the earth isn't flat, then why do planes take-off and climb, rather than flying close to the surface?"
- "GPS doesn't work in the southern hemisphere."
- "If the sun is 93 million miles away, how come you can see it with the naked eye?"
- "The moon is transparent: if you look at it during the day, you can see patches of blue the same as the sky!"
- "We never landed on the moon [obvs]: the earth is protected from the sun's radiation by a shield right? And a rocket went through that?"
And there was something about how fast the earth is supposed to spin and how fast it's supposed to orbit the sun, but I'm not sure what the point was as I was trying to stem the bleeding from my ears.
He's also a bit of a cunt, but that may be unrelated.

My mind is still blown by the constant acceleration / gravity counter-argument. Presumably there is a fair correlation between these people (oh no, I didn't, did I?), and creationists? So in a timeframe of 6000-ish years... nooo, stop it, stop it, stop it!

No there's no such thing as satellites

I can't find it now but I used to have a link to the best conspiracy theory blog. I started by reading an article about how Stevie Wonder isn't blind and ended up on how Stanley Kubrik faked the moon landing among other things.

This is maybe the first thread where everyone agrees.

Wait till they hear that the moon is a satellite. Oh, wait. The moon was also fake. Checkmate I guess.

"If the sun is 93 million miles away, how come you can see it with the naked eye?"
that is extraordinary. Even for a FL'er

People always tell you not to look into the sun "because it's bad for your eyes". The real reason is so you don't spot that's it's obviously fake.
How do they explain phases of the moon, like a crest moon?
