  • This thread makes me dizzy some times.

  • What was that old pop song, "I'm so dizzy, my head is spinning" then something like "like a whirlwind it never ends" or whatever. Popped into my head when you said that.

  • There is also a difference between getting caught up in a crash, and crashing.

  • That was 'Dizzy' by Vic Reeves and the Wonderstuff

    Edit: Christ, 25 years ago...

  • Banger that.

  • There is, but if it's the final descent into the finish, I don't think you can expect GC riders who have struck out to make time gains to neutralise the race while they are probably getting all sorts of conflicting information over the radio.

This Friday and next Wednesday are similar finishes - if it's raining there will no doubt be plenty more dizzying chat if you have the GC race taking advantage of errors, unforced or otherwise.

Dan Martin is right that the race organisers have got what they wanted. Favouring these much more unpredictable finishes over the typical HC summit finishes does seem to be making for a more exciting race. It is putting the riders into a situation where they will push to take risks to take time, though. I always thought it was crazy that there has been at least one downhill TT in a Grand Tour before. I guess wanting it badly enough is just part of what makes a winner.

  • No necessarily - he may have been hearing the original, Tommy Roe version.

  • I agree entirely, what I meant was, that the 'rule' is usually more about not putting the hammer down after the yellow jersey is caught behind a split caused by a crash. It's not really the same when they are put on the limit and make a mistake like Kruijswijk did for example.

  • I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough to contribute to this thread (Vic Reeves and Tommy Roe references aside), but it's great, and I'm learning so much, so thanks all.

  • Hopefully nothing interesting happens for an hour or so, stuck out on an errand.

  • I think today will be fairly uneventful, I know the area they are racing through well, and whilst there are a few hills, there's nothing to trouble the sprinters. I'd expect a break to go, then get reeled in before a bunch sprint.

But it is the day after a rest day and sometimes that can have an effect.

  • Fingers crossed for some good action. I don't mind watching a replay - prefer that to a shit day of 'racing'.

  • Agreed, the course isn't hard enough for a break away to stick. I might put £1 on Kittel or Eddy B

  • Commentator talking about Uran's fixed gear victory.

  • Would rep if he'd turned up on a Cinelli Mash Romet to sign on.

  • Has coverage started there yet? Pre-stage chat here... Zzzz...

  • itv4 has it live from flag drop.
