  • It's large... but I've posted larger. Nothing suspicious in any of the web server logs. Will keep on testing.

  • b&w

Edit: so this one worked, but was a much smaller file. Larger file problem maybe?

  • It's subtle, but not directly file size as I've posted a 29.8MB photo from a Sony a7rii just fine.

Will work on it tomorrow or Tuesday.

  • @Velocio @bg there isn't any weird symbols or dots in the file names is there? or no file extensions at all? forgive me if these seem like obvious questions, this tends to be the issue when people cant upload images to our website at work.

  • The Forum's own @PhilDAS

Not sure which one of these shots I prefer.

  • Everything seems fine.

I'm getting an error message that is from the web server (not Cloudflare, and not the API either), but only post-upload.

It is as if it uploaded fine, but took such a time that a timeout occurred.

But that isn't what is happening, because I've uploaded larger files on the same connection just fine.

For a while I suspected that the WAF (firewall) was detecting weird things in the file, but that's not the case either (WAF logs would tell me).

I need to check whether it is actually appearing within AWS S3 or not... i.e. did it finish getting processed and uploaded and the linking it to the post is the bit that is broken. That will at least guide me to one of the two possible places where the issue could be.

  • That sounds way out of my expertise, haha, good luck!

  • Bought an Olympus Trip 35 from an eBay seller, described as 'Pristine'. Had a lot of fun shooting with it this weekend (Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival in Brum). First film camera in an age.

Got the photos back and most of them have severe light leak, the ones that do not are under exposed. Gutted. On examining the camera it doesn't have any light seals (looks as though they've been removed, camera cleaned up, but not replaced) and the aperture blades are sticky and not opening properly. Trying to sort it out with the seller at the moment, but they're being resistant.

Anyway... These are some of the better ones without leak and the exposure fiddled with on Lightroom. Going to buy a serviced Trip as they're so much fun

  • Actually there is an extra dot in the file name. I didn't think about the name to be honest. I'll give it a go again here.

    edit: well that wasn't it

  • Nice shots! I quite like the film stock, AGFA?

  • Thanks ! Shot on Fuji Superior 400.

Had a look for Agfa Vista in about four different Poundlands before buying the Fuji, seems they're no longer selling it ?

  • I still see the Agfa in quite a few Poundlands.

  • yep, me too. I pick one or two up from time to time if I'm around or low on cash.

  • I've heard a few people are still picking it up, it's usually by the blank CD/DVD section right ?
I'll keep trying every time I go past one i haven't checked (i'm in Brum).

It appears i may have been a doofus with the Trip. I assumed setting it to f2.8 would be a fixed aperture, with the A setting opening the aperture depending on the light meter.

Testing the f2.8 setting in low light opens up the aperture fully without any problems, shine a light on it and opens up less. So I guess the manual f stops still work with the light meter, they just control the maximum opening of the aperture blades ?

Doh, and again doh. I'll fit some light seals and see if that helps with the under exposure also

  • I can pick some up and send if you are after some? There is one right by my house.

  • That's very generous, PM'd

  • I guess the manual f stops still work with the light meter, they just
control the maximum opening of the aperture blades ?

    IIRC it has 2 shutter speeds 1/40 & 1/200.

"A" is a programme mode (choses the best combination of available aperture and speed)

If you select f2.8 I think you put the camera in "aperture priority" mode.
The aperture will be f2.8 and then the selenium light meter decides which of the 2 available speeds to give you.

If you want any more control, you can also piss about with the ISO setting

(I'm assuming this is an old-school-david-bailey-proper-metal trip not one of the plastic junky jobs)

  • Om4 (maybe?) Portra and Superia 200 (maybe?)

  • Nb, for some reason the Epson software crops at really weird aspect ratios (seems like 2:3.5 rather than 2:3

  • Great shots! Is that Sharpnose in the picture? Ive yet to get there to climb!

  • Yeah, we got shutdown pretty hard. Mate started up Last Laugh E2, got scared, came down, I pulled the ropes and led up on his gear, got a bit higher and got more gear in, also got scared, lowered off, we walked round and abbed in to strip it. Fun times!
While there is gear available - both me and my mate were a little doubtful of the rock, and thus the reliability of the gear. Excuses excuses. Should have just taken the whipper!

Worth noting that my mate did a few E4s on the trip without issue, so I feel less like a pansy for bailing!

  • post more pictures pls @nefarious

  • infrared is hard, I made a mistake about the sensitivity of this film and overexposed it all really badly

  • Not been shooting much - scanning is more time consuming than I thought, all my cameras seem to be breaking, and my life seems to be quite boring at the moment!
