Left 7pm, stopped three time (free chip pub, Sudbury and coffee 20km from the end), arrived 3:30am, too early, rode to Ipswich and managed to get the 7:45 train to London despite being booked for 11:01.
Was awesome.

Any news about the guy that was knocked off in Epping is he ok? I heard it was Merc someone must have the no plate on a go pro.
I was over taken by a women passenger screaming out the window demanding single file or she'll call the police. South Essex is always the worst segment for me. -

Looks like an old Archie's Grobags Ninja hip pouch. :)

Last people around the first stop, found @Norfolkbound later on and both ended up hoping on the wheels off some RCC riders. Stopped about 20 miles from the end at a tent run by a couple of pissed ladies selling sausage rolls, sarnies, coffee and cakes, then and got to the beach at 4.
Bacon roll, coffee, watched the sunrise, sat around for a bit and rode to Ipswich for 8, whereupon they wouldn't let anyone on the 8.09 (it left empty?!) Got the 8.43 back.
5/7, would do again etc. -

Was a great ride! I wondered where you got to, I was at the front and finished the dynamo with a sprint against Rhino. 10/10 would do again and was nice meeting everyone, even though I lost the main group a mile in.

Got back an hour ago. That was brutal. 373.2km on the fixed gear. 25 hours elapsed from start of ride. No sleep apart from a disrupted 30 minute nap. 47/17. Ouch!

My longest ride fixed by at least 100km. Went way too quick on the traffic-free second half of the ride out, being pulled along by a bunch of RCC people. Was like ThNRC on steroids and amphetamines. 73gi felt just right.
Fresher legs would've been better for fussballclub's return route. I was suffering with nausea from around Chelmsford, and despite four sleeps (beach, golf course near Ipswich, pub garden near Colchester and grass verge at Chigwell Row) was reduced to about 10kmh coming into London. Round trip 25 hours. More chamois cream next time. Not used to riding for so long in such glorious weather.@fussballclub - A scenic part after Ipswich. Quite bumpy tho.

I just took lazy option and rode straight back on same route... It mostly came down to being 10k shorter.
Was fine up until everything started hurting... And then the roads through Epping are horrendous going back into London on a Sunday evening. -

I think this year got my timing wrong - started a bit too early, and slightly faster than normal. Saw far more of the fast groups than previous years and was pretty disappointed by the lack of riding etiquette, especially the BC group (although that is partly because I assume they are usually pretty good). If I'm already passing a group riding two abreast, don't try and squeeze past on my shoulder whilst still staying on the left lane. If you really must go past then just fan out onto the oncoming lane. (and even more frustrating when you pass them 5 min down the road because they've sat up and are pottering along at 10mph).
Big parts of it just felt like a very extended lap of Richmond Park tbh, but the bits that weren't like that were pretty nice. Shame to still not get the fabled clear night, but the weather was pretty good, lovely sunrise

BC as in Brixton? I can make enquiries... Unless it was us but we were never more than a group of 4. Plus didn't leave until 8.30ish & then lost each other pretty quickly. So hopefully not.
Things were pretty crazy for the first couple of hours. I narrowly missed a crash in a big chaotic group that I got caught in the middle of. After that I mostly rode solo until Dunwich. -

Yeah - like I say they only stood out because I know they are usually pretty good riders - the pass would have been fine on a club run with people you know, and I can hold my line well enough, but it seemed pointlessly close when the oncoming lane was entirely clear, and the riders had no idea if I could actually hold my line (or the people I was already passing). The rider at the tail of the line also swerved in pretty sharply, but I'm sure he was a hanger-on and not from BC.

Looks like it was just a beautiful night for DD. So sad I missed it for work.

Oh dear.^ Leave later, ride slower, avoid roadie groups?
Maybe people should start avoiding Epping if this abuse and attacks are becoming a regular feature ... just heard about a bunch of kids out that way pushing an unridden MTB across the path of some riders.

Sorry ... half baked comment.
Was yours the blue Dawes tandem?
Excuse the gram filters on a few of these - great weather, great run, great group.
