Do we know anyone going up to you? I am not scheduled to see friends or inlaws (or them come to me) in MCR. Who do you know that I know?

1915 for the main race I believe.

Will compile my usual calendar across all the local (to London) leagues soon too, as they're all provisionally announced now.
I got into the 3 Peaks this year, anyone else?

• #6158
Are you going to ride singlespeed?
-
• #6159
thinking about it. Big speed differences between the road sections and the rideable bits of the climbs don't make it all that suitable. That being said, someone's done it in 3.40 on a singlespeed, which is probably quicker than I'd manage on gears.

I dunno about anyone on here to be honest, know a couple faces but not particularly well! I've asked on the local bike group in any case

A course around the Barbican! With painted wooden ramps!
-
• #6165
Sadly the venue is Lee Valley Park, which feels like an opportunity missed.
-
• #6166
I was just kidding around about the Barbican, but yeah of all the amazing parkland/woodland the UK has there are headed for some bulldozed wetland in a stinky part of East London just because it has some bleachers? Hooray

• #6167
Don't know why they wouldn't do Milton Keynes again, that was an amazing course a couple years back
-
• #6168
Agree about the course and location but isn't the main thing we'll get to see a world cup race in the UK
-
• #6169
To be fair, I reckon you could build a decent course at the Velopark and, by doing so, make it a regular venue for the London and Eastern Leagues.
I'd just love to see a more central London based course, as that would, I'd hope, get more people to attend.
-
• #6170
I'm sure if enough people get behind the event those opportunities will come
-
• #6171
it's be lovely to have more London based courses. or replace southern rail. whatever's easier
-
• #6172
Stratford is Central London nowadays.
Where could they realistically do it that's more central, anyway?
Any green space that's relatively central seems to be too manicured to get churned up by muddy Belgians.

Even Ally Pally has stopped letting the Rapha Supercross be there.

I want to see racing back at Crystal Palace, hosts of the 1973 World CX championships.
But ideally hosting an event in central London would be visually appealing, so Regents Park or Hyde Park would be good. If they can fuck up the grass for dad rock bands, they can do it for a few Belgians.

Regents Park or Hyde Park
Not really enough terrain of any interest in those Victorian parks though: it's all decorative gardens and avenues with little in the way of elevation change.
Always thought the Olympic Park would make a good venue, but there's not a chance a local race would get permission to ride up those banks of wildflowers. Hopefully money talks and this'll get the go-ahead. A permanent, or semi-permanent, cross course in London would be amazing. Shame they didn't think about that during the consultation period.
I've only made one but I'm planning on making the next two round
I'll be in Bristol CX gear on a white giant tcx
