It's not the same thing at all. My question, quite clearly, was about the evidence for the claim, not what the claim was.

The media are so desperate for a tabloid hero in these situations that they'll believe anything. Someone claims to have taken on three men armed with knives/machetes, with his bare hands, and they lap it up. He then turns out to be a racist cunt and everyone looks like a dick. He may, of course, have genuinely taken them on, as described, which is why I asked if there is any evidence for this.

I think you've missed the point too.

When the guys doing the stabbing have been gunned down by armed police, it could be quite easy to say afterwards, if you were so inclined, "I fought them tooth and nail but eventually they over-powered me and I took a few stabs before they cleared off and left me for dead", when actually the true events could have been that the bloke was watching a game in the pub necking pints, there was a commotion, he was sitting one minute, next minute he's on the floor with a bunch of stab wounds.

I'm not saying that's what happened, but I think that's what @Markyboy is suggesting.

im sure much of his story was bravado , much was hyped too by the press . it comes as no surprise to me he was a racist , being a working class white male from bermondsey who supports millwall .

There were quite a few Millwall fans at my secondary school, lots of families that were displaced from south east London during the war wound up on council estates in Pimlico... They were all racist cunts, in fairness, the Chelsea fans I grew up with weren't much better... All my black schoolmates were either Spurs or Arsenal fans... #csb

A Chelsea season ticket holder I had the misfortune to work with lent the ticket to his mate for a match. He (season ticket holder ) was notified a few days later that he was banned for 3 months for using racist language/abusive behaviour reported by a steward at the match.

.. just like to add that said season ticket holder is also a massive racist but did not appear outwardly racist (within the confines of work).

im by no way saying all working class white males are racist but you edited as such do you work for a media outlet ? being what i regard as a white working class male myself . the pointers are bermondsey/millwall/south london/football fans/ working classes . ive met a few there are of course black and asian fans too but you dont see many down millwall, my friend paul is a kind and gentle white man who supports millwall ......

The stories I read had quoted him saying that he yelled at the attackers, who then attacked him. The 'hero saving lives' stuff I saw was all editorialising based on what his mates had said on facebook. But I haven't read every account.
