  • Record it - has the added bonus of being able to fast forward the adverts.

  • Part of its appeal; that and the opening graphics makes it feel like the 1990s.

I used to like it in World Cups (Mexico 86 I'm thinking) when it sounded like the commentators were on the other end of a telephone, which they may well have been.

  • Readers carps...

  • I love it. But I love exciting bike racing more.

  • No, only gas pipe BSOs for her until she's old enough to appreciate (and buy herself) a proper bike.

  • I've started putting a couple of mine in the loft for mine when she's older to justify not selling them. I mean, early 90's time trial bikes are bound to be fashionable in 2030 right?

  • Only here for the chateaus, me.

  • Given my struggle to route (see what I did there Aussies?) I'm more likely to end up off my tits in Amsterdam than riding to Meteora in Greeceland. I actually feel fast on the bike but also fat and lacking motivation for anything longer than my commute. Basically, I have no idea what's going to happen to Quaint Anna or that hippy guy.

  • Surely, as a default, you could just use the directions function on Google Maps. How wrong could that be?*

    *From experience, very.

  • Anywhere from 592k to 671k with unknown combinations of path, road, climb, etc.

  • let's hope wind causes havoc today

  • I think I may have learned more about the history and culture of France watching the Tour de France, than I ever could have at high school.

  • Anyone else notice the poor, unsuspecting soigneur dragging his pants out of his arse cheeks while waiting for Froome to finish his turbo session on the highlights show? Most unfortunate.

  • Yeah spotted that guy. Terrible case of hungry arse.

  • Indeed. He was 'going to the cinema' i.e. 'Picking his seat'

  • Is it flat again tomorrow? The Vuelta and Giro parcours have been shitting on the Tour in recent years. No cobbles this year, why not a few hilly stages for the puncheurs at least?

Also is there a reason the TTT seems to have gone out of fashion? I'm trying to remember the last one in the Tour.

  • Why don't you watch the tennis?

  • The first half of the Giro this year was no more interesting than this (not that I agree it's dull, anyway) and was only saved overall because Dumoulin got the shits; not something the organisers can take credit for. This Tour was always going be be about a few seconds here and there and more sprints than the past few years. Sit back, enjoy the countryside, it's the Tour, the best 3 weeks of the year.

  • I'm not saying it's dull, but there are 9 flat stages in this year's edition. I like a good sprint stage, but maybe not that many. I liked it when they has the cobbles in it, and think some classics-style hilly stages would spice things up.

  • Armchair keyboard warrior cyclists can't just sit back and enjoy. Hi

  • Yeah you are right, those Sardinian stages were as dull as dishwater, then they had a rest day!

And while I do like the Tour, the best weeks of the season are the spring classics for me.

  • It's great because I can have it on at work, without it being interesting enough to distract me from work. Best of both worlds.

I was just about to ask who's in the Jersey of Peas at the moment and then it showed Morph was in it.

Is it Morph he reminds me of, or another stringy animated character?

  • Tomorrows stage looks interesting, I think it's a good chance for a breakaway.

Jens Voigt says this about tomorrow's stage. But then he said about yesterday a sprint train was essential.

  • I really like the Cannondales
